How to replace bathroom floor drain?

1. Preparation work: Before starting the replacement, you need to prepare the following tools and materials: new floor drain, wrench, screwdriver, waterproof backing plate, sealant, rubber gasket, etc. Make sure to disconnect the water supply to the bathroom and clear the floor for subsequent operations.

2. Remove the old floor drain: First, use a wrench or screwdriver to remove the old floor drain. Typically, floor drains have a metal cover that can be loosened slightly with a screwdriver. Then, use a wrench to turn the floor drain counterclockwise to remove it from the drain pipe. Be careful to keep it clean and avoid dripping water or dirt.

3. Clean the surrounding area: After removing the old floor drain, use a rag or detergent to clean the area around the drain hole. Make sure there are no debris, dirt or old seals to allow for a better installation of your new floor drain.

4. Install the new floor drain: Take out the new floor drain and check whether it is complete and intact. Place a rubber gasket at the bottom of the floor drain to prevent water leakage. Then, insert the floor drain into the drain pipe and tighten it by turning it clockwise to ensure it is flush with the ground.

5. Add a waterproof backing sheet: To enhance the sealing performance, you can add a layer of waterproof backing sheet around the floor drain. Depending on the size of the floor drain, use a suitable cutting tool to adjust the waterproof backing plate to match the shape of the floor drain. Then, use sealant to fit the waterproof backing around the floor drain, ensuring a tight fit.

6. Testing and Adjustment: After installation is complete, turn the water supply back on to the bathroom and perform a test. Open the faucet and check the floor drain to see if there is any leakage. If there is water leakage, please check whether the floor drain is firmly installed and whether it needs to be readjusted or sealant added.

7. Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean floor drains regularly to prevent clogging and dirt accumulation. You can use a descaler or a special floor drain cleaner to clean regularly to keep the floor drain clear.
